In this paper, a technique for accurate estimation of the moment of magnetic dipole is proposed. The achievable accuracy is investigated, as a function of measurement noise affecting estimation of magnetic field cartesian components. L’autonomia scolastica e le politiche di valutazione degli insegnanti nei paesi europei

Recent years have seen intensified awareness about teachers’ role in promoting student learning and, consequently, an increased emphasis on evaluating teachers and their work. Among many school factors, the teaching quality is a key-parameter of student learning. For these reasons, in many national contexts teacher performance evaluation is one of the elements that draw significantattention, in terms of both international surveys and concrete measures.Starting from the state of the art in several European school systems, our goal is to describe, compare and analyse models adopted to assess teaching quality. We attempt to highlight any differences in perspectives and models agreed by the European systems and to reflect on risks and opportunities, strengths and weaknesses associated with the use of such instruments in the teacher evaluation. The teachers are only one of many factors that influence student achievements, but the evaluation of teachers is necessary because there is an increased awareness of how crucial the teachers are in the achievement of students and in the progress of society.Negli ultimi anni si è intensificata la consapevolezza sul ruolo degli insegnanti nel promuovere l’apprendimento degli studenti e, di conseguenza, sono aumentate le indagini sulla valutazione degli insegnanti e sul loro lavoro. Tra i molti fattori scolastici, la qualità dell’insegnamento è un parametro chiaveper lo sviluppo degli apprendimenti degli studenti. Per questi motivi, il tema della valutazione della performance degli insegnanti costituisce uno degli elementi su cui si è maggiormente concentrata l’attenzione sia sul piano delle indagini internazionali che delle concrete misure messe a punto all’internodei diversi contesti nazionali. L’articolo nasce da queste premesse. TDoA Based Positioning using Ultrasound Signals and Wireless Nodes

In this paper, a positioning technique based on Time Difference of Arrival (TDoA) measurements is analyzed. The proposed approach is designed to consent range and position estimation, using ultrasound transmissions of a stream of chirp pulses, received by a set of wireless nodes. A potential source of inaccuracy introduced by lack of synchronization between transmitting node and receiving nodes is identified and characterized. The Speed of Light and the Hubble Parameter: The Mass-Boom Effect

We prove here that Newtons universal gravitation and momentum conservation laws together reproduce Weinbergs relation. It is shown that the Hubble parameter H must be built in this relation, or equivalently the age of the Universe t. Using a wave-to-particle interaction technique we then prove that the speed of light c decreases with cosmological time, and that c is proportional to the Hubble parameter H. We see the expansion of the Universe as a local effect due to the LAB value of the speed of light co taken as constant. We present a generalized red shift law and find a predicted acceleration for photons that agrees well with the result from Pioneer 10/11 anomalous acceleration. We finally present a cosmological model coherent with the above results that we call the Mass-Boom. It has a linear increase of mass m with time as a result of the speed of light c linear decrease with time, and the conservation of momentum mc. We obtain the baryonic mass parameter equal to the curvature parameter, omega m = omega k, so that the model is of the type of the Einstein static, closed, finite, spherical, unlimited, with zero cosmological constant. This model is the cosmological view as seen by photons, neutrinos, tachyons etc. in contrast with the local view, the LAB reference. Neither dark matter nor dark energy is required by this model. With an initial constant speed of light during a short time we get inflation (an exponential expansion). This converts, during the inflation time, the Plancks fluctuation length of 10-33 cm to the present size of the Universe (about 1028 cm, constant from then on). Musica e transfer degli apprendimenti: apprendimenti musicali, abilità fonologiche e linguistiche nella scuola dell’infanzia

Musica e linguaggio sono stati oggetto di numerosi studi che hanno mostrato significative analogie durante la loro acquisizione da parte dei bambini (percezione precoce del suono, ritmo, vocalizzi pre-musicali e pre-linguistici, l’emergere di canto e parola). Il presente articolo nasce dall’esigenza di descrivere un transfer degli apprendimenti tra musica e linguaggio nella prima infanzia affinché venga data ai bambini la possibilità di sviluppare appieno il loro potenziale nei settori della musica e dell’alfabetizzazione emergente. Il risultato principale dell’analisi effettuata con bambini frequentanti una scuola dell’infanzia nella provincia di Salerno mostra risultati promettenti per quanto riguarda il miglioramento delle suddette competenze. L’articolo, infine, propone l’attivazione di progetti interdisciplinari per consentire ai bambini di sviluppare le competenze in campi d’esperienza/discipline diversi da quelli sperimentati, utilizzando il transfer degli apprendimenti anche per prevenire eventuali difficoltà di apprendimento

Betting on bitcoin: a profitable trading between directional and shielding strategies

In this paper, we come up with an original trading strategy on Bitcoins. The methodology we propose is profit-oriented, and it is based on buying or selling the so-called Contracts for Difference, so that the investor’s gain, assessed at a given future time t, is obtained as the difference between the predicted Bitcoin price and an apt threshold. Starting from some empirical findings, and passing through the specification of a suitable theoretical model for the Bitcoin price process, we are able to provide possible investment scenarios, thanks to the use of a Recurrent Neural Network with a Long Short-Term Memory for predicting purposes

Effectiveness of dual-wavelength (Diodes 980 Nm and 635 Nm) laser approach as a non-surgical modality in the management of periodontally diseased root surface: a pilot study

Conventional periodontal therapies have been widely discussed in the literature. The results of these therapies, surgically and non-surgically, have demonstrated high predictability and stable maintenance over time. With some clinical indications, such as inflamed sites with consistent bleeding on probing (BOP), it can be challenging for the root planning procedure to achieve predictable outcomes. Therefore, the aim and objectives of the present study were to evaluate whether the dual-wavelength (980 and 635 nm) laser therapy at lower power settings can be beneficial as a combined non-invasive modality in the management of periodontally diseased root surface in terms of improving the periodontal parameters. Thirty-five healthy patients were enrolled in this study. All patients had at least one pocket in the anterior and posterior teeth with initial periodontal pocket depth (PPD) > 6 mm associated with evidence of clinical inflammation, i.e. bleeding on probing (BOP++ or BOP+++) with no gingival recession. The treatment protocol utilized combined therapy of conventional debridement immediately followed by application of dual-wavelength laser therapy (photo-ablation and photodynamic therapies) at lower power settings. The results showed that all the pockets of involved teeth had an average gain of 3 mm of the clinical attachment level with no sign of BOP and reduction in the mobility of the teeth 35 days post-operatively. Thus, the utilization of the dual-wavelength approach of laser-assisted therapy at lower power settings appears to provide a promising and predictable non-invasive clinical approach in the management of compromised periodontally involved teeth

A topological analysis of a geographical model for internet

This paper presents the analysis of a complex networks model of Internet connectivity named “Geometric Growing Model with n\ud Redundant Edges” (GGM-RE-n). This approach models the growth of Internet while taking into account the physical position of the\ud nodes. The node degree distribution and average radius are investigated for different configurations of the networks.
